Senior Project Geologist Orion Gold NL
Orion Gold NL is an Australian gold exploration company whose tenement holdings include the highly prospective Walhalla region of Victoria.
Based upon significant historical exploration and mining data, the Company has identified a number of highly prospective targets. It is on these targets that the initial drill program, which commenced in November 2009 is focusing with the aim of establishing near surface gold resources leading to a mining operation in the medium term.
In order to achieve this target, the Company seeks expressions of interest from experienced geological candidates to undertake the role of Senior Project Geologist.
This is a key company role which will include responsibility for and involvement in the following activities;
- working at a senior level in the development of exploration strategy to progress the company from an explorer to producer;
- developing exploration plans and schedules for multiple tenement locations, including liaising with, and scheduling, contract personnel and equipment;
- Work as part of the team in the preparation of JORC compliance activities;
- Ensure that company geological and technical data and documentation is produced and maintained to a high standard;
- Assist in the determination and achievement of planned budgets; and
- Make sound geological recommendations based on modelling of sourced data.
To achieve this we envisage that the successful applicant will have the following qualification and personal / professional work qualities;
- Tertiary qualifications in Geology with significant experience in gold exploration and associated activities at a senior level;
- The experience to work and liaise with a large and diverse group, including community, Board, Investors and company personnel;
- The ability to supervise contractors and consultants in the field;
- Experience in relevant industry software;
- The ability to develop a team of skilled and enthusiastic geological and support personnel; and
- A strong safety, heritage, community and environmental culture and commitment.
This is a unique opportunity to undertake a senior role in the early stages of the Company’s development and live / work in the beautiful Gippsland region of Victoria. Candidates who prefer to live outside this region are also encouraged to apply.
This is a key role within the Company that will report to the General Manager – Exploration. A salary package will be negotiable commensurate with the importance of the role.
